THE EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA CHAPTER of THE AMERICAN COLLEGE of SURGEONS WAS INCORPORATED IN APRIL 1993, UNDER THE PENNSYLVANIA NONPROFIT CORPORATION LAW of 1988. EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2003, THE CHAPTER MERGED WITH THE CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA CHAPTER of THE AMERICAN COLLEGE of SURGEONS, INC. and CHANGED ITS NAME to THE KEYSTONE CHAPTER, AMERICAN COLLEGE of SURGEONS, INC. THE PURPOSE of THE CHAPTER is to ELEVATE THE STANDARDS of SURGERY and to EDUCATE THE PROFESSION and THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE SPECIAL TRAINING INVOLVED IN THE PRACTICE of SURGERY.
